Who We Are

The purpose of the Mentorship and Professionalism Program (MAPP) is to foster deeper connections between UofSCSOMG students by providing the opportunity for our current medical students to offer guidance and to build relationships with our incoming students. This program seeks to encourage conversations between students with similar and diverse interests while aiming to ease the transition into medical school. Our goal is to empower our colleagues by expanding the support resources available to each new class member through assigning a dedicated mentor.

What We Do

Our expectation for mentors is to provide a safe environment where mentees can share trials and triumphs as their medical school journey unfolds. Mentors will serve as a source of support and encouragement for their mentees during times of setbacks as well as in times of celebration. Both parties are expected to approach this process with humility and respect. While we may never fully understand every unique life experience that our colleagues will carry with them into medical training, we can all strive to earnestly understand and learn from the perspectives of our colleagues as we pursue this vocation together.
