Women in Surgery

The Women in Surgery Interest Group exists to provide resources, mentorship, and encouragement to female medical students who are considering a career in surgery. In an overwhelmingly male populated field, women need strong mentorship and an understanding of the surgeon's role to be successful in the field. We explore the challenges faced by female residents and how we can successfully prepare for a surgical residency. Through a resident-student mentor program, panel discussions with female physicians, and hands on experience we hope that the WiSIG will empower women to confidently pursue their desired career path.
