Who We Are

Juntos, which means “together” in Spanish, will be a partnership project between UofSC School of Medicine Greenville students and a patient and their family from the Center for Pediatric Medicine (CPM). Complex diagnoses are challenging and require substantial medical and social attention. Juntos aims at providing social support to these pediatric patients and their families.

What We Do

Our goals are: 1) to aid patients develop trust within the healthcare system and 2) to provide families with resources that can help them better navigate the healthcare system. This includes empowering and educating patients/families regarding medication refills, scheduling their upcoming appointments, etc.

Additionally, opportunities include:

1. Partner with and support an immigrant family with a child with special healthcare needs (attending their clinic visits, phone calls, check-ins, etc)

2. Develop educational materials with Juntos student leadership to support health literacy and health systems navigation ( such as developing videos on filling prescriptions, calling clinics after hours, etc.)
